Ceramic bodies
Blended Clay
A repeatable clay blend whose plasticity, green strength, and firing shrinkage match the buyer’s body.

The grade
Blended clay is for the ceramic plant that does not want to rebuild a body from single clays on every order. The blend is a recipe: plasticity for the way you form, green strength for the way you handle the ware, and firing shrinkage that still fits the glaze and the size you sell.
That is a different offer from a sack of kaolin or a sack of feldspar. Those minerals may sit inside the recipe. The thing you reorder is the blend, made the same way next time, so the kiln cycle you qualified is still the kiln cycle you run.
Skylark Exports builds that conversation around your body, not around a generic spec sheet. There is no single silica or alumina number that defines it. Fired colour is agreed on a sample. Shrinkage is agreed against your cycle. The notes here are typical of how a blend is specified. They are not a certificate of analysis, and they are not a stock recipe pretending to be yours.
What buyers check
- A recipe matched to the body, not a single-pit commodity sold as “the” clay
- Plasticity and green strength set for the forming method you use
- Firing shrinkage agreed so the body still fits the glaze and the size
- The same blend on the next order, so the kiln cycle stays valid
Applications
- Ceramics and tile
Tile, sanitaryware, and tableware plants use clay, feldspar, silica, and quartz so the body stays plastic and the fire stays predictable.
Packing
- 25 kg bags, typical export packing, still to confirm
- 50 kg bags, typical export packing, still to confirm
- 1 MT jumbo bags, typical export packing, still to confirm
Questions buyers ask
What is blended clay, if it is not a single mineral?
It is a ceramic body recipe. Kaolin, other clays, and fluxes are combined so plasticity, green strength, and firing shrinkage land where your process already works. You are buying a repeatable blend, not a claim that the mix came from one pit.
Can you match shrinkage we already run?
That is the point of the grade. Send the shrinkage, the forming method, and the firing cycle. A typical blend is adjusted to those, then checked on a trial. This page does not publish a shrinkage percentage, because your body is not a generic one.
How is this different from ordering kaolin?
Kaolin is one clay, chosen for whiteness and plasticity. A blend is the body recipe, so the plant is not rebuilding the same mix in every shipment. Many bodies still use kaolin and feldspar as part of that recipe. The blend is what gets reordered.
How is a blend packed?
Typical export packing is 25 kg bags, 50 kg bags, or 1 MT jumbo bags. The packing Skylark offers is still to be confirmed. Name packing, quantity, and destination port when you ask for a quote.
